GFWC Headquarters Quarters for Headquarters

GFWC Headquarters is a national historic landmark located at 1736 N. Street in Washington D.C.

Headquarters serves as the working offices for the GFWC International President and staff. The facility also serves as host to events such as the annual Women’s History Month event and Holiday Open House.

Tours of the mansion are available Monday through Friday 9:00am—4:00pm. Each tour last 1 to 2 hours. To schedule a visit please email If planning to stay in D.C. overnight try scheduling an overnight stay in the mansion.

The building was built in 1875 and became GFWC’s official headquarters in 1922. Its historic Victorian style has been maintained through generous contributions from members and friends.

The General Federation of Women’s Club has long been known as the organization that gets things done. For more than a century we have raised funds in support of worthy causes and the organization that support them.

The time has come for us to make a significant investment in ourselves in the form of support for our Headquarters. We have come up with a plan! Quarters for Headquarters.

We are beginning a new fundraising program to raise money for the GFWC Headquarters Capital Campaign Fund. Each club should have a large syringe of the correct size to hold quarters, and is encouraged to use these syringes to collect quarters at meetings throughout the year. The collections should be recorded on the dues forms at the end of the year and a check sent to:
